Malta has implemented the Use for the purpose of research or private study (Art. 5.3(n) InfoSoc) exception in Article 9(1)v of Chapter 415 of the Laws of Malta. The national exception closely resembles the EU exception.

Implementation summary:

This exception allows publicly accessible libraries, educational establishments or museums, or archives to communicate by dedicated terminals on the premises to individual members of the public for the purpose of research or private study, works and other subject-matter contained in their collections, which are not subject to purchase or licensing terms.
